Makaton Sign of the Week - Man
Please see the link below for our current vacancy.
As part of Year 5’s experience day they visited Audi. Children looked at body work, interiors and even heard the sound of a sports car. They gained a wide range of vocabulary and had a superb morning. Staff were amazing and commented on the depth of questions the children asked.
Little Lapal Ducklings. To understand the lifecycle of animals, Reception had a very special delivery this month of duck eggs. We have watched the eggs carefully, noticing signs of pipping and we lucky enough to see a tiny duckling hatch from the egg. Our four ducklings are called Poppy, Leonardo, Duckee-Sam and Snowflake. We have spent two weeks looking after the ducklings, teaching them how to eat and drink, holding them very carefully and even watching them take their first swim. They have now gone to their forever home but we are so proud of the children for the care they demonstrated.
On Tuesday, Lapal held their annual Key Stage 2 Science Fair. We had many fantastic projects and the pupils spoke confidently about their enquiries. Throughout the morning, the rest of the school came to learn and engage with our young scientists. Everyone who took part should be incredible proud of their achievements and hard work. Winners and certificates will be handed out during our whole school assembly on Friday.
On the 11th March, we raised awareness for Young Carers Action Day. We did this through a whole school assembly, discussing and sharing what some children in this country have to do when they get home from school. This year, the focus for young carers is ‘Fair Futures for Young Carers’.
The children were able to identify which of our school values young carers show and what British Values it also shows. Children then spent time during GREAT ways to well-being reflecting on what life is like for a young carer.
One child was so inspired from our whole school that they wrote a poem:
Young Carers
Young carers work too hard,
They have to pick up all of the leftover card,
From the food they eat to the clothes they wear,
The young carers always care.
They do the washing up,
And pour drinks into their cup,
They’re trying to do the best they can,
And are always cooking on a pan.
This is why we are floating like a bird,
To help spread the word.
